ABOUT US

Films, Foams and Fabrics Division
The Films, Foams and Fabrics sector of Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics is a leading supplier of technically distinctive polymer films, elastomeric foams, coated fabrics and pressure-sensitive tapes used in today's most challenging environments. Whether selected for their unique electrical, thermal, weathering, mechanical or chemical properties, these products satisfy customer needs in virtually every industry. Through our network of manufacturing and sales facilities across the globe, we bring years of experience to the development of the best in polymer solutions for customers worldwide.

High Performance Film
Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics transforms fluoropolymers and other engineering resins into advanced performance films. Sold under the name Norton® High-Performance Films, these products provide engineers an impressive range of performance characteristics such as: chemical inertness, purity, high and low temperature capability, and release and barrier properties.

Specialty Coated Films
We offer a range of specialty coatings for release liners, abrasion resistance, and static dissipation performance. Our Specialty Coated Films business is recognized as a world leader in the manufacture and supply of high quality optical release liners for the most demanding applications. These liners protect pressure-sensitive adhesives used for medical transdermal applications, window films, and roll label markets. If the application requires non-silicone release, we can provide alternatives to keep an application silicone-free. For applications requiring abrasion resistance or static dissipation, we are ready to provide solutions through our proprietary coating technologies.

High-Performance Pressure-Sensitive Tapes
Our line of CHR® Pressure-Sensitive Tapes delivers performance for dielectric insulation, anti-squeak, and high-temperature performance in a wide variety of markets. Utilizing specialty film, fabric and composite substrates and our field-proven specialty adhesives, Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics meets the requirements of leading-edge applications. Whether for flame spray, solder masking, or other critical performance applications, CHR pressure-sensitive products are recognized as the performance standard by the most demanding industries.

Thermal Management Products
Advanced Films and Fabrics has combined the capabilities of Saint-Gobain's advanced substrate and conductive filler technologies with unique adhesive and coating capabilities to offer the most innovative thermal control products available today. As electrical and electronic devices get smaller and more powerful, removal of heat is a critical performance mandate. For example, manufacturers of today's most advanced semiconductor processors turn to our ThermaCool® thermal interface management products to maintain peak performance for their chips. In managing the heat created by power supply devices, our range of technology - from fluoropolymers to coated fabrics to high-temperature foams - is unparalleled.

Bonding and Attachment Tapes
Norton® closed-cell foam bonding tapes, with high-performance pressure-sensitive adhesive on both sides, provide a desirable alternative to mechanical fasteners. Norton bonding tapes are highly conformable, durable, weather resistant, and are clean and easy to use, either by hand or in automated applications.

Thermalbond® high-strength polyurethane foam is used as a spacer in structural glazing systems and as a thermal break or die-cut for vibration damping applications.

Our broad materials offering - combined with state-of-the-art adhesive and coating capabilities - provides innovative solutions to the automotive, construction, transportation, appliance, electronic and medical industries.

Sealing and Gasket Tapes
Norton sealing tapes are compressible, closed-cell, elastomeric foam tapes that work under pressure to seal against air, vapor, moisture, water, dirt and sound infiltration. When compressed, the foam cell walls retain a memory of their original shape and exert outward pressure to seal a joint. This ensures a positive seal, even against irregular surfaces. Our wide variety of formulations serves a diverse group of industries such as: automotive, construction, transportation, industrial and electronics.

Silicone Elastomers
Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics offers state-of-the-art silicone rubber products for aerospace, appliance, automotive, electrical, electronic and transportation markets around the world. From prototype through final product, the Silicone Elastomers business fulfills the most demanding requirements of customers such as Airbus, Boeing, Siemens, Philips and Electrolux, among others.

Specialty Coated Fabrics
The Advanced Films and Fabrics sector is the global leader in the design, development and manufacture of high-performance CHEMFAB® brand coated fabric products that combine outstanding chemical, thermal, and weathering properties, with strength, and durability.

The Denver airport, the London Millennium dome project and most covered sports stadiums incorporate our specialty-coated fabrics in tensile roof structures to create stunning architectural profiles.

We also design, fabricate and sell specialty-coated fabrics for spherical radomes that protect valuable high technology antennas and other communications equipment from environmental effects.

Fabricated Systems
The Fabricated Systems group utilizes high-technology composites to provide end-use products and complete engineered systems for demanding applications worldwide. From custom-designed 100' radome systems for a Satcom terminal or a Level A protective suit for a HAZMAT response team, the Fabricated Systems group is prepared to work with you from conception to installation.
